This is my fave film, and if you’ve seen it, you’ll know the final scene where Chief suffocates a lobotomized McMurphy in his bed at night and smashes his way out of the hospital. It’s a perfect, and moving marriage of life, death, the after-life, freedom, repression, spirituality…all the big things.
This is Chief’s tune really, and it seems to be a musical representation of his spirit, dignity, his journey back to the wilds of his homelands, and how he takes McMurphy’s soul with him. It’s brilliant, hence why i’ve gone on about it. But nah, probably wouldn’t have it at my funeral. It’s just a thought-provoking piece about death. And life. In my humble opinion.
